This rotate PDF tool turns pages 90, 180 or 270 degrees and saves the rotation into the file itself — not just into your viewer. Every app, printer and recipient sees the pages the right way up.
Rotate all pages at once, or type a range like 2, 5-8 to fix only the pages that are sideways. Like every tool on this site, the work happens in your browser and the file is never uploaded.
Why Use This Rotate PDF Tool?
- Permanent rotation — the fix is stored in the PDF, not just your PDF reader
- All pages or a selection — correct one sideways scan, not the whole document
- Nothing else changes — text stays searchable, quality untouched
- Free, no signup, works in any browser
- Files never leave your device
How to Rotate a PDF — 3 Steps
- Drop your PDF into the box above and wait for the page count to appear.
- Pick the rotation — 90° right, 180° or 90° left — and choose whether it applies to all pages or just the ones you list (for example 2, 5-8).
- Press the blue Rotate PDF button and download the corrected file.
Why Some Sideways Pages Stay Sideways — and How to Fix Them for Good
A rotated page can mean two different things. In one case the page content is upright and a viewing flag simply tells your reader to display it sideways — rotate the flag and every viewer shows it correctly. In the other case the scan itself contains sideways content with no flag at all, which is what you get from most phone scanning apps and cheap flatbed scanners when a sheet went through crooked. This tool sets the page rotation entry in the PDF, which fixes the first case outright and fixes the second in every reader that respects rotation flags — which is all of them: Acrobat, browser viewers, Preview on macOS, phone PDF apps and printer drivers.
The distinction matters because some fixes are fake. Taking a screenshot of a sideways page and pasting it into a new document, or re-printing to PDF, produces a blurry image-only file with no text layer. Setting the rotation flag keeps every part of the page exactly as it was — the text remains selectable, searchable and crisp at any zoom level, and the file size barely changes.
Mixed documents are the common headache: a 40-page report where the appendix pages were scanned landscape. Rotate those pages only by entering their numbers in the page selection field, leaving the rest untouched. If you are not sure which pages are wrong, open the PDF in any viewer, note the page numbers as the reader counts them, and type those numbers here — page 1 is the first page of the document.
A note on direction: the tool offers 90° clockwise, 180°, and 90° counter-clockwise (which is the same as 270° clockwise). If a page ends up rotated the wrong way — easy to do when you are guessing which way a scan is leaning — just run the result through the tool again with the opposite angle, or start over from the original file.
